Community Nurseries

Under the MegLIFE Project, community nurseries have been established to ensure a steady supply of quality saplings for plantation activities. Managed by SHGs and VPICs, they promote local ownership and participation in forest restoration. These nurseries support the use of native species suited to local ecosystems. They also create livelihood opportunities while strengthening community-based conservation.

Highlights:

  • 417 Nurseries established
  • 500-0 Bed raised
  • Raised 35 lakh seedlings producing annually for three years.
  • SHGs earn Rs. 20,000 per nursery projected for carbon sequestration per year
